Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick

Song I Played While Reading- Best Mistake by Ariana Grande
Rating- 3 stars

Synopsis-
Brit Pheiffer has trained to backpack the Teton Range, but she isn't prepared when her ex-boyfriend, who still haunts her every thought, wants to join her. Before Britt can explore her feelings for Calvin, an unexpected blizzard forces her to seek shelter in a remote cabin, accepting the hospitality of its two very handsome occupants;but these men are fugitives, and they take her hostage.

Britt is forced to guide the men off the mountain, and knows she must stay alive long enough for Calvin to find her. The task is made even more complicated when Britt finds chilling evidence of a series of murders that have taken place there and in uncovering this, she may become the killer's next target.

But nothing is as it seems, and everyone is keeping secrets, including Mason, one of her kidnappers. His kindness is confusing Britt. Is he an enemy? Or an ally?

I had high hopes for this book. I loved Hush, Hush, Fitzpatricks fantasy saga. But I was a little disappointed. The main character, Britt, wasn't easily relatable to me, and some of choices she made in the book had me wanting to smack her upside the head. The story at some points either was to rushed, or way to slow. It didn't draw me in, so I had to go back sometimes and reread things.
On the other hand, there were some good plot twists in here that I didn't see coming, and I loved the ending. That's what really sealed the deal for me to make it 3 stars instead of 2. Britt had her moments of witty, sarcastic remarks, which were appreciated in such dire situations, and she wasn't one of those girls who cowered in fear. She stood up for herself and her friend, managing to keep it together most of the time, which is more then I could say for myself if I was in her situation.
I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. I look forward to more books from Fitzpatrick and can't wait for what she decides to write next :)
